The Ol’ Factory is a 100% natural perfumery based in Perth, WA.
They wanted a unique (and challenging) approach with their target market: blending high-end luxury with youthful pop-culture and cheekiness. After spending hours researching competition, we hadn’t uncovered any other brand taking this approach. Our excitement for the project grew ten-fold — we were heading into uncharted territory!
The Ol’ Factory had 3 fragrances kicking off their product line: “happy birthday, mr. president,” “that’s it, i’m not going,” and “tuk tuk”. They tasked us with designing and printing labels, followed by product photography.
We started with creating graphic concepts for each fragrance. Since the fragrances are named after pop-culture references and everyday objects, we crafted graphics in-line with the names.
While we’re in love with the graphics, they mostly ticked off the “fun” checkbox for the brand. We still needed to incorporate “luxury”. For this, we turned to the production aspect of the project. We found a beautiful satin-finish material for the labels. While difficult to represent in photographs, in person, the labels have a silky, almost metallic sheen to them.
The Ol’ Factory has kicked off with a successful launch and we can’t wait to watch them grow, as well as continue working together with them as they expand their product range.
“Alain Studio have been a pleasure to work with. Josh from Alain Studio has provided outstanding work to help us launch our first product line. I came to him with mixed concepts and not really knowing where to start. He ran with my ideas while providing direction to create something truly unique. I wasn’t sure what I was wanting would be possible but his great eye for detail and creative solutions made my vision come to life. Every element of this project has exceeded my expectations and they have made the whole process so much fun. Thank you and I’m looking forward to working together on future projects!” — Sarah Robertson, CEO The Ol’ Factory
